Saxon sus l'empont en Occitània, au "Bikini" a Tolosa lo 9 d'octobre de 2018

Saxon es un grop de heavy metal britanic, originari de Barnsley, ciutat mejana del Yorkshire del Sud (Anglatèrra), entre Sheffield al sud e Leeds, fondat per lo cantaire Peter Byford e lo guitarrista Paul Quinn. Lo grop a debutat al mièg de las annadas 1970, a la metèissa periòda que Def Leppard e Iron Maiden, e son coma eles considerats coma pionièrs de la new wave of british heavy metal (NWOBHM, la novèla èrsa del heavy metal britanic de las annadas 80). Lo nom de Saxon es estat oficialament adoptat pel grop en 1978. Abans 1978, lo grop virava sus d'emponts del Nòrd d'Anglatèrra ambe lo nom de Son of a Bitch.

Après un primièr album publicat en 1979 qu'a pas cap de resson, lo grop sortís son segond album, Wheels of Steel, seguit còp-sec per un tresen, Strong Arm of the Law. Aqueles dos albums encontran una importanta capitada en 1980 al Reialme Unit, sustot gràcias a las cançons Wheels of Steel, Heavy Metal Thunder o encara Dallas 1 PM e Strong Arm of the Law.

En 1981, lo grop sortís son quatren album entitolat Denim And Leather qu'a encara mai de succès, en particular aqueste còp en Occitània, album considerat aquí coma culte ambe de títols coma Princess of the Night, Never surrender, And the bands played on e Denim and Leather.

Power And The Glory (1983), lo cinquen disc de Saxon, es considerat per d'unes coma un cap d'òbra. Conten en particular los tròçes Redline, The Eagle Has Landed, e plan solide lo tròç que balhèt lo nom a l'album, Power and the Glory.
