William Broad, dich Billy Idol, es un cantaire de ròck anglés nascut lo 30 de novembre de 1955 a Stanmore dins lo comtat de Middlesex en Anglatèrra (Reialme Unit).

Rejonhèt brèvament lo grop anglés Siouxsie and the Banshees en 1976, puèi en 1977 integrèt lo grop punk Generation X. Dins las annadas 1980, après la separacion del grop, partiguèt als Estats Units per i menar ambe succès una carrièra sòlo dins un registre puslèu new wave (Rebel Yell, Eyes without a face, Flesh for fantasy). Dins las annadas 1990, son estil evoluïguèt e se virèt un pauc cap al ròck industrial, dins un sosgenre personal pro accessible al grand public e colorat d'una estetica cyberpunk (Shock to the system).
